Roth’s Thoughts 1.02: Week 14 NFL Rankings

Before I get into my rankings, I need to pose a question. If we are 14 weeks through the regular season and somebody were ask how many games are left, which is the correct answer?

A) 4 games…because, well the NFL is 18 weeks + playoffs…
B) 7-8 games…because that’s how many are left if you make the SB

I am not doing a full breakdown of each team, I don’t have time for that and quite frankly so many of these teams are dirty diapers. The highlighted teams from the list above will get a quick breakdown here:

Philadelphia Eagles:
– I mean what do I need to say that hasn’t been said? This team is a wagon. I don’t know if there is a better offensive tandem than Jalen Hurts, AJ Brown, Smitty, Dallas Goedert & Miles Sanders. I’m booking my flight to Phoenix for early February, might mix in a Saturday outing to the Waste Management.

Cincinnati Bengals:
– Joe Burrow, awesome. Ja’Marr Chase, awesome. Tee Higgins, awesome. Joe Mixon, sometimes awesome. The only skill group that rivals the balance of Philadelphia. If I could switch places with one person in the NFL right now, I’m switching with Joe. Which means I have to live in Cincinnati..let that marinate for a second. If the Bengals grab the 1 seed in the AFC, they’ll be back in the Super Bowl.

Minnesota Vikings:
– Frauds, plain and simple. The “Fuck it JJ down there somewhere” offensive strategy came crashing back to earth last week. I mean has there ever been a quieter 10/220+ game in NFL history?

Detroit Lions:
– When I watched the Lions week 1, I made a comment that these Lions would beat some teams. They’ve been the laughing stock of the NFL for the better part of 2 decades. This team is different. Dan Campbell, meh idk but he’s not calling plays so that helps? The Lions have the foundational pieces on offense to be THEE team to beat in the NFC North. Pair in a potential top 3 pick + their own pick in this upcoming draft, goodness gracious. Imagine a defensive line bookended by Will Anderson & Aidan Hutchinson. I am a believer, these Lions are fun to watch and should sneak into the playoffs.

Jacksonville Jaguars:
– Doug P has done an awesome job cleaning up the shit show that this team was under Urban. This team has a ton of flaws but they also have some intriguing pieces that should excite fans moving forward. Not to mention they play in a division that has little promise for the next 2-3 years (unless the Texans nail this draft). Love Doug, Lawrence is coming on, DUVAL!

New Orleans Saints:
– LOL…I literally put them in here to remind everyone that the Philadelphia Eagles own their 2023 1st round draft pick. Cheers to Howie Roseman!
